HamersFix — custom WordPress theme for same-day appliance repair in Northeast Georgia

Project overview

HamersFix is a same-day appliance-repair company based in Bethlehem, Georgia, serving 14 cities in Northeast Georgia, from Lawrenceville to Statham. Its customers are homeowners with a fridge that stopped cooling or a washer that won’t drain, plus restaurants and property managers, and all of them want one thing: a technician today.

The brief was a site that turns that moment into a phone call within seconds, and that the owners can run without a developer. I designed it and then built it as a custom WordPress theme, pixel for pixel to the approved design and without a page builder. Every text, image, list and price on every page is a field in the admin, and the theme renders the full design even before a single field is filled, so the site looked finished from the first deploy.

My role in the project

I personally led the project from design to launch. The areas I owned and delivered directly:

• Design of all 16 pages on one system: navy and orange, Archivo for headings, Public Sans for text and IBM Plex Mono for labels
• A custom classic WordPress theme built 1:1 to the design, with no page builder
• The content model in ACF Pro: field groups registered in code and versioned in git, design defaults for every field, and a demo-data importer
• Navigation and interaction: three mega menus, a mobile drawer with accordions, a sticky call bar on phones and a working ZIP coverage checker
• Honest copy: “24/7” claims replaced with the real hours and after-hours wording, and the offers (the veterans and seniors discount, diagnostic pricing and warranty wording) set once in the admin
• SEO and launch: per-page titles and descriptions, structured data and deployment to Hostinger by git over SSH

What I built: the site

• Home page: a same-day hero with call and booking buttons, the ZIP checker, six appliance cards, a three-step process, brands, reviews, a commercial block, FAQ and a closing call to action
• Six appliance-repair pages (refrigerator, washer, dryer, dishwasher, oven and cooktop), each with its own grid of common problems, appliance types drawn as SVG illustrations, brands, a local coverage block, reviews and FAQ
• A services hub, Commercial, About, Brands (premium and everyday brands with a brand-by-appliance matrix), Reviews and Contact: call, text or book, with no forms, as the brief asked
• Service Areas with a stylised coverage map of the 14 cities, the cities grouped by region and commercial coverage
• A maintenance line: refrigerator and oven deep cleaning with a combo offer, and air vent cleaning with an animated vent illustration
• A top bar with today’s hours, the service area and the discount, three mega menus (Residential, Maintenance, About) and a call-or-book bar pinned to the bottom of the screen on phones

What I built: the ZIP checker and the admin

• The design mock-up said “you’re covered” to any ZIP. The live checker validates the five-digit code and matches it against the coverage list in the admin: a covered visitor gets the booking link, anyone else gets the phone number to check the nearest crew
• Theme Settings for everything global: phone, hours, coverage ZIP codes by city, offers, footer, trust items, social links and SEO defaults
• Every page template has its own field group, 650+ fields in all. They’re registered in code, so the structure lives in git and travels with the theme
• A design default behind every field: the site renders in full before content is entered, and a field emptied by mistake falls back to the default instead of leaving a hole
• A demo-data importer with two modes, fill only the empty fields or reset everything to the design copy, covering Theme Settings, the six services and every section page
• Six services as their own content type: adding one updates the Residential mega menu and the home-page grid by itself

Stack and SEO

A custom classic WordPress theme in PHP and vanilla JavaScript on ACF Pro, deployed to Hostinger by git over SSH. Every page has its own SEO title and description; the theme emits LocalBusiness data with the address, hours and served cities on every page, Service and BreadcrumbList on the appliance pages and FAQPage wherever a FAQ section is shown, and it hands meta tags over to Yoast or Rank Math if one is installed. A star rating goes into the structured data only when real numbers are entered in the admin, never by default. Lighthouse gives the site 100 for SEO on desktop and mobile.
